Must Visit Destination
The resort is located in an old plantation. It was founded by Don Placido Escudero and his wife Dona Claudia Marasigan way back in 1880. After more than a century it is still a self contained working coconut plantation. Don Escudero had started a sugar plantation but his son Don Arsenio Escudero converted it to a coconut plantation. He is also credited for starting the first working hydroelectric plant which he set up to supply power to his coconut factory and Villa Escudero which he built in 1929. The later generation Escuderos opened the estate to the public in 1980s. It was a humble beginning but has now gained a worldwide reputation as a showcase for the Philippines’ rich cultural heritage. The resort offers the most comprehensive experience of Philippines’ cuisine, dress, customs and natural beauty along with its history. Local activities like bamboo rafting, bird watching and exploring nearby villages can be a unique experience for a luxury traveler.
