US-born citizen but from Dominican and Portuguese ancestry, Sessilee made her debut in the fashion world in 2004. Since then, she has walked for some of the best fashion houses and designers such as Fendi, Dolce & Gabbana, Jean Paul Gaultier, Karl Lagerfeld, Marc Jacobs, Lanvin, and Hermès and graced the pages and covers of some of the most prestigious fashion magazines like "Vogue", "V", "W", "Allure", "i-D", "Dazed & Confused", "Marie Claire", "Numéro", "Elle", and "Harper's Bazaar". Besides, Sessilee has starred in ad campaigns for Gap Jeans, Tommy Hilfiger, Barneys New York, GAP, Benetton, CKOne, Macy's, Levi's, Saks Fifth Avenue, DKNY, Nordstrom, Adidas, and H&M and is also one of the members of the wonderful Victoria`s Secret Angels team. American model Sessilee Lopez was born on January 4, 1989 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, although in 1998 she moved to Port St Lucie, Florida. From Portuguese and Dominican origin, she has two sisters: fashion designer Kristian Lorén and Latoya Mendez a medical student. Her career started in 2004 when she signed with IMG Models and moved to New York. Sessilee made her debut on the catwalk in February 2004 walking in New York for fall fashion shows by Daryl K and Vivienne Tam. During the first week of April she was named “Model of the Week” by Models.com and was photographed by David Sims for the Benetton ad campaign. At the beginning of 2005 Sessilee signed a contract with Calvin Klein One fragrance and, in February, she walked in New York and Milan for the fall fashion shows by Zac Posen, Emporio Armani, Karl Lagerfeld, Dries van Noten, and Vivienne Westwood. In March she appeared in an editorial of “Vogue” Italy (together with Hye Park and Australian model Gemma Ward) and starred in Macy’s catalogues and TV commercials. In May she appeared in the special issue of the magazine “Oprah” commemorating its fifth anniversary, appeared in an editorial of “T Style” (a spread from the “New York Times”), was photographed by Karl Lagerfed for Adidas ad campaign and appeared in the catalogue of the online store Saks Fifth Avenue. In September she appeared in the cover of “Wonderland” together with models Ambrose Olsen y Solange Wilvert and in November she put an end to 2005 appearing in editorials of “Harper’s Bazaar” y “Vogue”.
In March and April 2006 Sessilee starred in new editorials for both “Glamour” Italy and “Elle”, landed the cover of “Deutsch” and starred in DKNY ad campaign. In September Sessilee walked in New York and Paris for 2007 Spring fashion shows by Baby Phat, Peter Som, Imitation of Christ, L.A.M.B., and Jean Paul Gaultier. Finally in December the American model appeared in an editorial for “Flair” Italy. Let’s talk now about 2007. At the beginning of the year Sessilee appeared in Nordstrom’s catalogue and in May she graced the pages of an editorial of “Allure” together with Swedish model Caroline Winberg. In October she left IMG and signed with Major Management and finally to put an end to this year, the model appeared in an editorial of “Vibe” together with singers Omarion and Bow Wow.
2008 was one of the most frantic years in Sessilee’s career. In February she walked in Paris for Vivienne Westwood’s Fall fashion show and in April appeared in an editorial of “Glamour” Italy. In July Sessilee walked in Paris for Givenchy’s fall fashion show and landed the cover of “Vogue” Italy that dedicates her a thirty-page spread with pictures taken by Steven Meisel. In September she opened in New York Yeohlee’s spring fashion show closing Tuleh’s one. Besides she appeared in an editorial of “V” together with fellow model Tyra Banks and in October was considered by Style.com as one of the best newcomers of the season. That’s not all folks. Still in October Sessilee appeared in “Vogue” Italy again and signed a contract with Calvin Klein One fragrance. Finally in November she landed the cover of “Muse” and in December starred in editorials for both “W” and “i-D”.
However, perhaps 2009 has been Sessilee’s best year so far. In January she walked in Paris for the spring couture fashion shows by Christian Lacroix, Givenchy, and Jean Paul Gaultier. Still in January, Sessilee appeared again in “Vogue” Italy and in February she opened in New York Tuleh’s fall fashion show closing the shows by Badgley Mischka and Cristian Siriano. In April she graced the pages of “Vogue” Japan and in May starred in editorials for both “Harper’s Bazaar” and “V”. In June she landed again the pages of “Harper’s Bazaar” and “Vogue” Italy and closed in New York Diane von Furstenberg’s resort fashion show. In July and August the American model appeared in new editorials for “Vogue” Germany, “V”, and “Vogue” France and was considered by Wmagazine.com as “Model of the Week”. More magazines were to follow in September as she appeared in”Allure”,” Dazed & Confused”, ”Harper's Bazaar”, and “Vogue” Italy. In October Sessilee starred in a new editorial for “Allure” and, on the catwalk again, she opened in Paris Jean Paul Gaultier’s 2010 Spring fashion show. In November, Sessilee made her debut as a Victoria’s Secret Angel walking in the yearly Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and in December she appeared in a new editorial of “Vogue” Italy. What a busy agenda she had....
In January 2010 our friend Sessilee appeared again in “Vogue” Italy and walked in Paris for Jean Paul Gaultier’s spring couture fashion show. In February she walked in New York, London, Milan, and Paris for the fall fashion shows by Zac Posen, Anna Sui, Roksanda Ilincic, Giorgio Armani, and Hermes and in April landed the cover of “Numéro” together with fellow model Toni Garrn. In May Sessilee returns to the pages of “Allure” and in July she traveled to Paris to walk for Jean Paul Gaultier’s fall fashion show and in New York she traveled back to New York where she walked for the spring fashion shows by Imitation, Z Spoke by Zac Posen, Christian Siriano, and Naeem Khan. During the last three months of the year Sessilee starred in new editorials for “Allure”, “L’Officiel” France, and “Elle” France. At the beginning of 2011 the American model left Major Models and signed with Supreme Management and throughout 2011 she has starred in editorials for “Vogue” Italy (black and white editorial in February) and “Elle” UK. She recently walked at Madrid´s Cibeles Fashion Week where she won the award L’Oreal gave to the best model of this event.
Out of curiosity and about her prívate life, we can say that Sessilee dated singer and producer Kanye West. Currently she is involved in a relationship with American model Wendell Lissimore with whom you can see her in the picture. Sessilee lives in New York and her best friends are fellow models Solange Wilvert, Chanel Iman, Ajuma Nasenyana, Daniela de Jesus, Jourdan Dunn, Arlenis Sosa, Siri Tollerød, Rose Cordero and the male model Daniel Liu. In her leisure time Sessilee likes reading the Bible and listening to Lauryn Hill music.
