Indeed, Pa is supposed to teach us the manly prowesses and to support us as a lifelong guide to strengthen our manhood. Throughout our timeline, we’ve watched stack of father-son relationship movies in which some fathers were unrefined, some were morons, some were superman and some were non-idealistic, but one thing was common in all these traits; good or bad, they were still fathers. This touching movie was directed by Tim Burton and stars Billy Crudup as William Bloom, an alienated son and Albert Finney as Edward Bloom, a dying father. It was Ewan McGregor, who gained enormous popularity for playing the role of young Edward Bloom.

Directed by Robert Benton and winner of five Academy awards, Kramer vs. Kramer is a straightforward answer to the questions that pop-up on the subject of male parenting. Along with the terrific character play of Meryl Streep, Dustin Hoffman gave his career-best performance, taking up the responsibilities of his son; played by Justin Henry. There are some scenes in this humorous yet heart-rending movie which leaves a viewer in a big mess of blubs and tears every damn time.

Road to Perdition is a classic masterpiece which depicts Tom Hanks, a father of two sons who is a hit-man by profession and Tyler Hoechlin as his one of the son, helping his Pa in a mission of revenge. Initially, this movie depicts the life of a son who is curious to know about his father’s job and the money on which their family live, but later move toward a violent end reserved for mobsters.


3. The Pursuit of Happyness (2006):

The Pursuit of Happyness is an uplifting father-son relationship movie based on the true story of Chris Gardner, an eminent multi-millionaire American entrepreneur who struggled from the status of down-with-luck to luck-on-foot. Will Smith played a great father trying to protect himself as well as his preschool-aged son (played by Jaden Smith) from becoming roofless, while at the same time trying to work in the competitory field of stocks. Go ahead and watch this movie! You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll applaud and you’ll realize that why this movie deserves to be taken in by the masses.




2. The Godfather (1972):

Best known for its tremendous re-watch-ability, The Godfather is a historical story about the battle of a son (Al Pacino) to accept and finally live up to the bequest his father (Marlon Brando) has left him (doesn’t matter the bequest is honorable or diabolical). Before watching this movie, set up expectations that could never be met and chuck out the hype of greatest-movies-of-all-time. I’m damn sure, after finishing this movie, you’ll come to known why The Godfather is considered as a milestone in the history of movie making.

And here comes the no. 1 father-son relationship movie, which will, for sure, make an everlasting impact on your conscience. From a comedy to a struggle for survival, this heart-wrenching movie is a genuine evidence to the love that a father has for his son. Originally made in Italian language, Life is Beautiful (La vita e bella) outshines its peers, emphasizing the fact that human spirit is above all else.
